With the retirements of assistant principals Bradley Stueve and Dr. Larry Murry coming up, Bellevue West has to fill those positions. Deans Rob Klug and Ayla Vargas have been hired as the next assistant principals, starting at the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year.
Both deans are looking forward to this change.
“You know, the assistant principal position is one that I’ve always looked at fondly,” Klug said.
They intend on impacting the school for the greater good, and developing closer relationships with the students and staff.
“I just love the community here,” Vargas said. “I think we have great kids and we have great teachers, and being able to support great kids and great teachers is really great to be able to do.”
Their responsibilities will be different after the summer, but many aspects of their job will stay the same.
“I’ll just do a little bit of a different format next year and years in the future,” Klug said. “So not necessarily day to day things that I’m doing now, but kind of the larger picture of the building, so more classroom observations, more dealing with whether it be the budget or larger groups of students, etc, rather than just my alphabet.”
Current assistant principal, Stueve, said he believes Klug and Vargas will do well with the transition.
“They’re both well prepared,” Stueve said “They’re both extremely ready for the job. [They’re] hard workers. They’re dedicated. They love this building. I think it’s a perfect fit for both of them.”
Klug and Vargas are both confident that this change will positively affect Bellevue West.
“I’m excited,” Vargas said. “Yep, I’m really excited. I’m excited to be able to have that bigger impact on students and staff.
