Living in a small city like Omaha it can be easy to feel like there’s nothing to do here. However, there is a long and fun list of places to see and go. Your fun filled day in Omaha could start at Fontenelle Forest going north all the way to the Luminarium.
Fontenelle Forest- There are many sights to see at your first stop, Fontenelle Forest, such as walking trails, seeing wildlife, and even exploring local history in a new exhibit. Children 2-17 get in for $9 and adults get in for $15. You can get an aerial view of the forest in their Tree Rush, you can gear up to complete a treetop obstacle course.
Henry Doorly zoo- The classic solution to boredom in Omaha is our famous Henry Doorly Zoo. At the Henry Doorly Zoo there are a multitude of activities to partake in. From the Desert Dome that you can see driving on 13th St., to the aquarium that has sharks and fish swimming on all sides of you as you walk through the tunnel. Adults, 12 and older, can get in for $26.95. Children ages 3-11 get in for $19.95, and children two and under get in for free.
Lauritzen Gardens- Lauritzen Gardens is located in Omaha with beautiful flower gardens and scenic indoor paths. They are open daily from 5p.m.-9p.m. However, the flower garden is not the only thing they offer, they have a playground for kids called “Sophia’s Play Garden” which is open from 9a.m.- 4:30p.m. They also have the Model Railroad Garden which is open from 10a.m.- 4p.m.
Durham Museum- You can learn about the history of Omaha, sports, and more for the price of $15. Walking through you can not only learn about the history of our city but you can get a glimpse of the beautiful architecture in the main room when you walk in.
Hollywood Candy- Hollywood candy is also located in downtown Omaha and is always fun to walk around in. The store is decorated in a fun way and has an ice cream section with a 1900s vibe where you can sit and eat ice cream. Besides that they have a unique candy selection to pick from as well.
Gene Leahy mall- Downtown in general is one of the best parts about Omaha with the multiple different fun activities but Gene Leahy Mall has specifically been a hit. It’s had lots of work done, with the iconic big slides and the riverwalk, fun swings, and more. Not to mention, it’s a great photo op.
Luminarium- You can end your fun-filled day at the luminarium. It is also located in downtown Omaha and is a fun place for people of many ages to enjoy. It’s a science museum, however they have much more to offer as an interactive museum; you can take part in community discussion, different labs, or just explore. Children 5-17 can get in for $19.95 and adults for $24.95.
