Girl’s Basketball Recap: Thunderbirds defeat Omaha North Vikings 68-57.

What Happened: On Tuesday, Jan. 29, the Bellevue West Girls’ basketball team defeated the Omaha North Vikings 68-57. The victory took the West girls record to 7-10, while North fell to 4-11.

By the Numbers: By the end of the 1st quarter, Bellevue West was up 15-7. They maintained their lead throughout the whole game.  Senior Akili Felici scored a total of 28 points. Felici made all seven of her free throws.

Junior Siarra Roberts ended the night with a double double, on 19 points 12 rebounds. Omaha North’s A’Lawra Miller went down with an ankle injury in the 3rd quarter and sat out for the rest of the game. Before that, she scored 13 points for her team and made 4 out of 5 three pointers. With an 11 point lead at the end of the fourth quarter, senior Emma Mullendore ran out the last 30 seconds of the clock.

Next up: Tonight, Jan. 31, the Thunderbirds will face the Lincoln Southwest Silverhawks at 5:30 p.m. The student section theme will be yellow-out.
