For the first time since its creation, all-girls choir Arie Armonie was selected to perform at the Nebraska Music Educator State Convention.

The qualifications to be able to perform in front of music educators is a three-year process.

“We had to send in an audition tape from the past couple years and it has to be three different styles of selection,” vocal instructor Janelle Reetz said. “It’s always based on the year before, so we actually thank last year’s group and the year before because it was their work from that got us accepted. This year’s girls get to reap the benefits and go.”

The choir had a preview night on Tuesday to showcase all the songs they will perform at NMEA for their peers and parents who wanted to see their performance but can’t go.

“It was like a glorified dress rehearsal for us,” Reetz said. “We also know that 4 o’clock  on a Thursday a lot of people won’t be able to get off work and drive all the way to Lincoln.”
