What Happened: Bellevue West boys soccer team defeated Elkhorn South 5-1 on Thursday, April 12. Elkhorn South was ranked eighth in the state, while Bellevue West was not in the top ten.

By the Numbers: Senior Jason Moneymaker scored the first three minutes after an assist from senior Daniel Campbell. Goalkeeper James Vanbemmelen consistently blocked and punched the ball whenever it got near him. Defense Nolan Lausterer and Jackson Jesus made sure Bellevue West kept attacking on the offensive line. In the second half of the game, Moneymaker achieved a hat trick, making it the last goal for Bellevue West of the match.

Did you see that?: A combination play between Moneymaker and Campbell occurred when Campbell cut in, crossed the ball at the back post, and Moneymaker came in and headed it into the upper right corner. Elkhorn South’s senior Michael Potach attempted a bicycle kick but ended up hitting the crossbar. In the last seven minutes of the game, Campbell dribbled his way to the goal but got a cramp that led him to kick the ball out of bounds, causing him to sit out the rest of the game.

Next up: Bellevue West’s next regular season game will be against Omaha South on Tuesday, April 17, 2018.
