May 27, 2016 marked the opening day of a new Bellevue restaurant : Roma italian restaurant. After hearing a lot of talk about this new city gem, I decided to give it a try. Roma Italian Restaurant is located on 605 Fort Crook Road N. in Bellevue.

My take on my experience was to come in with an empty stomach and a hungry mindset. After about 10 of Roma’s fresh out of the oven rolls, I decided I could probably live off them. They give you plenty of butter to top it; however with the homemade, fresh taste it’s not needed.

The atmosphere is very open. I went on an early Saturday afternoon where there was only one other group of customers. If you’re looking for a quiet, emptier feel, the earlier you go the better. On the other hand, the staff’s immediate welcomeness and friendly attitude made up for it. The staff is always looking for something to help out with. Let’s just say my glass was never empty, but I was also never bombarded with “too much” hospitality.

The food was obviously my favorite part. After filling up on their delicious rolls, I browsed through their affordable lunch menu. I treated myself to the manicotti, accompanied by a side salad. The manicotti was something new to me and after trying it I would recommend it. I had my favorite–italian dressing–with my salad. Italian dressing is something I’ve had with my salad countless amount of times. Roma’s had a unique taste to it. I loved it, and I wanted more salad afterwards just so I could have more dressing. The size portion is generous, filling up your stomach leaving a little more to bring home. Later I found out that all of their menu is made from scratch and with fresh ingredients. This was no surprise to me after having my meal.

The price is more than reasonable for the quality of the dish. To my fellow broke teens, yes, you’re going to have to put a little extra cash in your pocket. It’s not a fast food restaurant for a reason.  However you’re not going to break your bank either.

Eating at Roma’s was a great decision and I can’t wait to explore more of their menu. The recommendations to eat here from my peers did not disappoint. Their hospitality, friendly atmosphere and homemade food made for a great experience.

Roma Italian Restaurant is open Monday-Saturday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 10:30 a.m. to  8 p.m.
