“BATTLEFIELD 6”
“Battlefield 6” takes place in 2027, with the two conflicting forces being a fractured NATO group, and a private military company called Pax Armata. The game appears to introduce four classes you can choose in multiplayer mode: Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon. All four of these classes have their specific playstyle, like Assault being more fit for a run-and-gun playstyle, while Recon operates more stealthily via long range guns like sniper rifles.
“Battlefield,” as a franchise, started in 2002 with “Battlefield 1942.” The game series is that of a military first-person-shooter, with priorities on online multiplayer and teamwork. The games themselves emulate a war-like scenario, in which two military forces are battling against each other. They fight in a capture-the-point type of battle, where the team who captures the most points wins, with the maps being relatively large and having an emphasis on destruction of the world with things like explosives or gunfire.
The new game also appears to add more quality-of-life features to the game. Most of these come with the inclusion in a new movement system, called the Kinesthetic Combat System, which allows players to do things like leaning over cover, moving fallen soldiers to a safer location for revival, and hitchhiking onto vehicles. There’s multiple multiplayer modes, including Team Deathmatch, Conquest, and King of the Hill, along with others, including a new gamemode titled Escalation. Escalation is like your traditional ‘capture the point’ style gameplay, except the amount of points to capture gradually decreases, causing players to be forced towards certain areas on the map.
Overall, “Battlefield 6” appears to be a solid addition to the “Battlefield” franchise, with the classic mechanics organic to every Battlefield game still being there, like the encouragement of destruction of the world. The new gamemode and classes to the game offer interesting changes of playstyle, along with the new movement system offering a nice polish on top of everything. The game was released on October 10, 2025, costing a base $69.99, with the Phantom Edition costing $99.99.
“BORDERLANDS 4”
“Borderlands 4” takes place sequentially after “Borderlands 3,” after Elpis– Pandora’s moon– is teleported away from Pandora, and breaks the protective barrier of the planet named Kairos. You play as a Vault Hunter– a mercenary on the hunt for alien Vaults– with each class offering a unique playstyle and abilities called Action Skills. On top of that, there’s a branching skill tree with each branch containing both socketable abilities and passive effects that, when combined, allows you to create a wide variety of different builds.
“Borderlands,” as a franchise, started in 2009 with Borderlands. The gamestyle is that of a first-person loot shooter, or a first-person shooter with priority on loot, along with a dash of roleplaying video game-or RPG-elements. The game itself is set in an open world, with a map-like element and progression in the form of a skill tree and more powerful loot and enemies as you become stronger.
“Borderlands 4” offers more places to explore, a more unique movement style, a co-op playing style, and a mighty expansive map. You gain the addition of a personalized vehicle, a new companion named Echo-4, and places to claim to take Kairos back, and to expand your Fast Travel options, or to help you further explore. The game released on September 12, 2025, with the base game costing $69.99, the Deluxe edition costing $99.99, and the Super Deluxe edition costing $129.99
“HOLLOW KNIGHT: SILKSONG”
“Hollow Knight: Silksong” is the long-awaited sequel to “Hollow Knight,” following Hornet as she explores a haunted kingdom wielding a sewing needle as her weapon. Taking place sequentially after the first game, Hollow Knight, you explore an expansive map filled with enemies and allies alike, learning to master new combat moves to defend yourself.
“Hollow Knight” started with its first game, “Hollow Knight,” published on February 24, 2017. The gamestyle is a Metroidvania, meaning you play in a 2D environment, with enemies and puzzles you must overcome to progress. The game takes place in a subterranean fallen kingdom plagued with a supernatural disease, unlocking more knowledge as you go along.
“Hollow Knight: Silksong” offers a new perspective and an expanse on the established lore with a familiar face, along with a new playstyle that doesn’t drift too far from that of its predecessor. It adds a quest system as well, to help encourage exploration and discovery of the map. Overall, it seems like it’s a promising addition to the series. The game was released on September 4, 2025, costing $19.99.
