After several delays, the new expected deadline for the auditorium is projected to be finished in mid December. The deadline, which was originally October, was pushed back two months due to recent obstacles.
“There’s been some shipping delays along the way,” Principal Kevin Rohlfs said. “Right now, it’s the acoustical clouds that hang on the roof of the auditorium.”
The crew also ran into some other issues along the way. Many problems arose from previous construction.
“They ran into all kinds of pipes and electrical conduits that weren’t on any map anywhere,” Rohlfs said.
The process of building the auditorium has been a group effort.
“We try to get input from everybody that worked in here,” Rohlfs said. “We have a meeting every two weeks, and we get an update from them on progress.”
After the construction has been finished, the parking lot should return to normal. Students should expect a major upgrade compared to the existing auditorium.
“We’ll have an almost 1000 seat theater with the latest technology in it,” Rohlfs said. “The stage is probably three times bigger than our current stage, state of the art, classroom and shop back there.”
