The rise of kindergarten backpacks on seniors has become a growing trend. Going viral on social media, it took off. It gave seniors a chance to reminisce on their younger years, while also having a fun time.
“I realized what senior backpacks were last year,” senior Gavin Myers said. “The trend finally, like, it made me realize that it’s a thing that seniors do, so I haven’t known about it for that long.”
As students move to senior year they often free up not only time, but also space. Having less classwork makes having a smaller bag more suitable.
“Before I had to be minimalistic and think about the actual stuff that I’m putting in my backpack,” senior Grace Guchu said.
Senior backpacks have quickly become a shared tradition, with many people piling on the bandwagon.
“I want to say that I participated in like, as many trends as I could,” Myers said.
As for others, this has a sentimental side.
“I picked it because I’ve loved Spongebob literally my whole life,” senior Savina Poutre said. “I watched SpongeBob when I grew up, and I was, like, perfect time to get a SpongeBob backpack.”
