In late October, the Bellevue West marching band received the Nebraska state title for the marching band championship.
“I don’t think there was anything that was any more challenging or less challenging to previous years,” Director Jason Pentico said.
Pentico said that the preparation for the season starts in May, and continues all the way into the start of the year.
“We’re rehearsing pretty much every Monday evening, Thursday evening, and then on Saturday mornings, until the competitive season starts,” Pentico said. “We also do every morning before school, from like 7 a.m. to 7: 40 a.m. until first period.”
Pentico stated preparations are already being made for the next season, and that he’s proud of the work that his students performed.
“They really did a great job musically,” Pentico said. “The guard had, I think, 14 new members, and they turned out to be phenomenal. So just their work ethic really allowed them to overcome that learning curve.”
