Caitlyn’s Festive Holiday Playlist

Caitlyn Wohlford, Reporter

When the holiday season comes around, there is always a list of things I need to get done before it can fully feel like Christmas. Whether it’s putting up a tree, baking cookies, or wrapping presents, I always find myself having to turn on a playlist of all of my favorite holiday songs to complete these tasks. These are some of my favorite festive songs that put me in the holiday spirit.

“Mistletoe” by Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber is not someone I would normally add to my playlist, but when it comes to this song I can’t resist. He is also not someone who comes first to mind when thinking of Christmas songs, but “Mistletoe” always brings back good memories for me which is why I like it.

“I Am the Grinch” by Tyler The Creator

“I Am the Grinch,” which is featured in the 2018 film “The Grinch,” starts off with a gathering of different instruments. The rest of the song uses all these same instruments but the chorus gets brought up. Although this song is meant for a kids movie, Tyler still manages to add his own personality to the song. It’s good for the holidays because it talks about the Grinch which is associated with Christmas.

“Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow” by Dean Martin

This song is something I needed to add to my playlist as the weather starts to get colder and snowier outside. The whole song only talks about winter, but still somehow slaps. It may be simple but it’s the perfect song I listen to while getting ready for the Christmas season.

“Santa Tell Me” by Ariana Grande

Although Ariana Grande is in all of my playlists, this song beats all of them. She is a wonderful artist, and really uses her high pitched singing voice to her best potential in this song. “Santa Tell Me” is a great way to enjoy the holiday spirit.

“All I Want for Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey

This is the go to Christmas song that comes to my mind when I think of Christmas time. The slow tempo in the beginning to the building up to the fast joyful beat is what just makes me want to get up and dance. This song may be overplayed every holiday season, but I still add it to my playlist every year.

“Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” by Brenda Lee

This Christmas classic is a song I know every word to. It’s definitely a song that should be played at every Christmas event when I’m at a family gathering. It is a perfect song to listen to while decorating a tree.

“White Christmas” by The Drifters

The reason I like this song so much is because it is featured in the “Home Alone” film. Everytime this song plays, it reminds me of when my family and I would sit down and watch this movie every year. This song makes me feel nostalgic because of the childhood memories that come along with it.
