What Happened: On Oct. 23, the Bellevue West Unified Bowling Varsity team beat Bellevue East in the first dual of the season. West won the first, second, third, fourth and sixth games of the six game dual, with a final score of 760-662. The varsity team consisted of seniors Thomas Cooperman and Eric Pierce, and sophomores Michael Schenck and Alex Liberty.

By The Numbers: The varsity team wasn’t the only Bellevue West team that did well in their dual. The Reserve team, consisting of senior Kaytlynn Roorda, sophomore Allison Loftus, freshmen Colton Hamilton and Eddie Pfeffer, won their dual against East’s reserve 436-398. And, although they lost, the JV team (junior Jakob Steffy, senior Matthew Woods, freshman Nathan Walther, and senior Devin Becker) came close with a score of 464-462.

Those who showed up: With four schools competing in the event, Leopard Lanes’ bowling alley was packed with players and supportive students and parents. The groups were easily distinguishable, with Bryan High School wearing green, Westside and Bellevue East in black with their school mascots printed on the front, and Bellevue West in their signature purple. As players competed, parents and students kept the bowling alley lively with loud cheering and screaming.

Up Next: With this being the first Unified Bowling event of the year, Bellevue West’s team still has an entire season of practices and duals to compete in. The next event will take place Tuesday, Oct 30.
