Bellevue West winter groups sweep State Championships

Bellevue West Color Guard groups celebrate their first place finishes.

On Sunday April 7, Bellevue West indoor percussion, winter guard, and winter winds groups competed in the Heartland Winter Arts Association (HWAA) State Championships at Bellevue West High School hosted by HWAA.

A total of 22 winter guard groups that competed for the championships. All Bellevue West groups were awarded first place in all of the classes they competed in: Scholastic Novice scored 65.720, Regional A scored 72.770, Scholastic A scored 78.260, and Scholastic Open scored 82.900.

Bellevue West Scholastic Open and Scholastic A Guard will compete at the WGI Color Guard World Championships in Dayton, Ohio on April 12-14.

Eight percussion groups competed in the state championship and both of the Bellevue West percussion teams placed first in their class: Bellevue West Percussion A scored 71.650 and Scholastic Open scored 87.550. Winter Winds, students consisted from both Bellevue East and Bellevue West, placed first in Scholastic A with a score of 81.700 out of two other groups.

Bellevue West Scholastic Open and Winter Winds will be competing at the WGI Percussion World Championships in Dayton, Ohio on April 19-21.
