What happened: The Bellevue West girls’ tennis team started their season off on Wednesday, March 21 against the Bellevue East Chieftains. Both the Junior Varsity and Varsity teams finished the day with 7-2 wins against the school rival.

By the numbers:  Senior Elyse Splichal opened up her final varsity high school season on a dominant note during her singles match. By capitalizing on frequent mistakes made by her opponent during rallies, Splichal finished the match with an 8-1 win.

Did you see that?: Seniors Emma Allison and Bailee Sobczyk sent their doubles match into a tiebreaker after reaching a score of 8-8. After completing the additional set with a score of 7-5, the Chieftains came away with the match win 9-8.

Next up: Bellevue West will face Elkhorn High School for their second away match of the season on Monday, April 2.
