Henry was an outstanding track and field athlete at West, where she competed as a sprinter and long jumper from 1991-1993. Henry still holds the records in long jump, 100 meter run, 200 meter run, and 400 meter run.

She captured state titles in the long jump, 200 meters, and 400 meters at the 1992 Nebraska State Track and Field Championships.

Henry was was on track for another state title her senior year in 1993, but she suffered a season-ending injury after districts and was unable to participate in the 1993 Nebraska State Track and Field Championships.

Henry went on to compete at the University of Nebraska, where she earned 10 All-American honors as a sprinter and long jumper.

She won both Indoor and Outdoor NCAA long jump titles in 1996.

After leaving Nebraska, she competed in track and field meets all over the United States and Europe and is currently still running professionally at the age of 36 (2011).

Henry was also elected to the Nebraska Black Sports Hall of Fame (2007) and the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame (2010) as a result of her career accomplishments. Henry is currently the Bellevue West Head Girls Track Coach, teaches English as a second language at Metro Community College, and lives in Millard.
