Thunderbirds defeat Titans and move on to second round of Class A Playoffs

What happened: The No.1 seed Bellevue West boys basketball team defeated No. 8 seed Papillion La-Vista South 70-59 on Thurs., March 7 in the first round of the Class A State Boys Basketball Playoffs.

By the numbers: Sophomore Chucky Hepburn led both teams in scoring with 31 points. Senior Nico Felici and junior David Nuor each dropped 14 points on the night. Junior Jared Mattley led the Titans with 23 points and senior Lök Wur had 15 points.

Those who showed up: An estimated crowd of over 1,000 parents and students attended the game. Students from both teams packed into their sections and were loud and proud as they cheered on their respective teams.

Up next: The Thunderbirds move on to the second round and will play the Omaha Central Eagles in the Class A semifinals on Friday, March 8 at 8:45 p.m. at the Pinnacle Bank Arena.
