Dave Butler, math
“I started reading comic books when I was about six or seven years old and have enjoyed them ever since. I began seriously collecting comics about 14 years ago and have just over 3000 comics; mostly ‘Green Lantern’ and ‘Justice League of America.’ This particular comic is the rarest comic I own. It was published in October of 1959 and is the first appearance and origin of the Green Lantern.” -Dave Butler, math teacher
Alexandra Thiessen, social studies
“I got all three of the bobble heads in Hawaii. The one with the pink skirt is over 10 years old and is named Cowboy Steve (don’t ask). He had an unfortunate ukulele accident last year at school. The other two I got recently in Maui, Hawaii when my husband’s sister got married there. And yes, that is a surfing President Obama bobble head.” -Alexandra Thiessen, social studies teacher
Cindy Seager, math
“This birdhouse was made by a former student. He battled cancer at a young age and lives every day with physical difficulties caused by his treatments. He never gave up… he always had a positive attitude… he worked hard every day… he was always kind to others. He is an inspiration to me!” -Cindy Seager, math teacher
Marya Lucca-Thyberg, theatre
“Theatre is all about student creativity.” -Marya Lucca-Thyberg, theatre teacher
Becca Hier, forensics coach/teacher
“Forensics has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, whether it was watching my cousin perform, competing myself, supporting my brother or coaching, it’s in my blood. Getting to walk across the national stage this summer to accept the diamond coaching award alongside other Nebraska coaches was an unforgettable experience.” -Becca Hier, forensics coach/teacher
Brandan Crenshaw, science
“I love watches because other than my wedding ring, I don’t wear jewelry. So it is the one accessory that I change to match my shirt.” -Brandon Crenshaw, science teacher
